Lil Nas X Calls for All Gay Men to Be Even Gayer

“Straight men are expressing themselves too much now. it so hard to tell who is gay. i need my fellow homosexuals to become gayer.”

Lil Nas X has always been outspoken about being gay, both in his music and in real life. Yesterday the artist tweeted what was interpreted by some as a “call to arm” for the LGBTQ community to show up and “become even gayer.”

“I need my fellow homosexuals to become gayer,” he tweeted, and gay twitter went wild.

The rapper, who marks today a year since the release of his #1 smash hit, cultural reset and LGBTQ anthem Montero (Call Me By Your Name) later twitted. “I’m tired of people calling me brave. Stop calling me brave. I don’t wanna be brave I wanna be cool!”

First previewed in a Super Bowl LV commercial in February 2021, Montero was released on March 26, 2021, through Columbia Records. Written by Lil Nas X along with its producers, the song, that includes explicit homosexual lyrics, served as the lead single and title track from Lil Nas X’s debut studio album. It was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Music Video at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Earlier this week, Lil Nas gave an inspiring speech at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, encouraging his fans to chase their dreams.

“Believing that I could come out of the closet in the height of my career…to think that I could do that would be delusional,” he said, and later twitted: “It’s okay to be delusional when you’re chasing your dreams.”
